Flying Fingers will be closed today due to the weather.  We will reopen tomorrow, Saturday, the 23rd at 10:00am.  You can still visit us on the web, at the link above.

It’s a great day to stay in and knit.  Be safe everyone.

Okay, okay I’ve been hearing all you people for a while now tell me that If the name of this blog is Elise’s Flying Fingers then you want to see what I’m knitting and hear what I’m saying.  And I have been putting it off.  Not because I don’t want to share with you, but becasue honestly it has felt like one more thing in an already over crowded work day.  I know you all know what I’m taking about.  But I also know that I can tell you guys the truth here, if I love something I say it, not so fond of something, I say it too.  Gets me in trouble all the time.

Oh well … can’t change an old chick, well guess you can, but let’s face it … I don’t want to.

In any event, Denise and Amy have been after me to take over the writing of the blog.

Boy…I hope you’re going to be happy, because I have a feeling they won’t!

First you should all know that I’m finally back to being able to concentrate on real knitting since Kevin has been gone.  It’s been hard.  I think some people use knitting on hard things as a way to keep their mind off their crap and others knit mindlessly for the same reason.  I vacillated, but was mostly the second.  We’ve had lots of scarves, blankets and big jackets these last two years.

Now I’m making socks.  Yeah me, “the original poking fun at Denise gal”.  I think it had to take alpaca to get me there.  Gorgeous Alpaca sox from Classic Elite – amazing – I am knitting on size US0.  Who’s laughing now?  I’m sure it’s Denise!  The yarn calls for US2, but for some unknown reason I got the gauge on 0’s.

Denise is the one who turned me on to this great pattern.  It goes pretty quickly. As quickly as anything knit on size 0 can be knit.  The real joy is feeling that luscious alpaca go through my fingers and knowing that soon my friend, Bob, will have his socks and my computer repair debt will be paid.

This blogging thing takes a lot out of you.  I must go get some coffee now.  Amy and I are working to have Alpaca Sox available for you to buy on our web site really soon.

Until then … call me.
