Once again we are starting off the spring with all the beautiful fibers and colors of Great Adirondack!! That’s right … we are lucky enough to have our friend Patti Subik send us our second annual
GREAT ADIRONDACK TRUNK SHOW
For three weeks, from March 22nd thru April, 6th, Flying Fingers will have a shop filled with some of the most amazing color combinations we’ve seen in yarn! (And you know that’s saying a lot!) Patti always manages to astound us with not only her incredible combinations of colors, but the way she puts fibers together and seems to know exactly what we want to feel running through our fingers as we knit and crochet.
Unfortunately, we never know what’s going to show up in those enormous boxes until they arrive … we joke that no one at Great Adirondack knows either until they pack them. As yet, we haven’t figured out how to invite our web friends to participate directly on the web in this Trunk show.
We can’t put items up if we don’t know what’s coming! So…If you’re a Great Adirondack fan, give us a call or shoot us an email and let us know what to look for. We’ll pull it for you when the boxes begin to arrive.
I’ve already started a list. If you live in the metro New York City area and have never seen Great Adirondack – trust me – it’s worth the drive!
Happy Knitting!
Elise~

Did you think I would be more prolific than Denise? I did, but it turns out that I write here…on the blog…and you guys email me and want answers there. That’s the way we’ve always done it, but one of the reasons I’ve started writing here is that there is no longer enough time to answer all the email. So if you read here – write here- I can respond here and we’ll all learn about what’s happening from each other.
Well I”m still working on Bob’s socks. I’ve just about finished one, (I never said I was speedy). Bob saw the picture here and loved it, now he can’t wait. For those of you who are worried that a man can’t wear reddish, pink and grey socks, he said to tell you these are not his first pair of pink socks. Hah! My theory is once again proven correct – color does not own gender!
Here’s a question from “chris” – I want to see the coat/sweater that looks knitted that is featured in your first photo for this post – the yarn is beautiful! Can you tell us more about the yarn/if you made this?
Many of you had questions about my sweater in this picture. That is one of my all time favorites!
Made with Colinette’s Point 5 – what else? The color is #124 – Celadon. The sweater is a pullover done in a 2×2 wide rib, loosely knit on large needles. I made it years ago, but it looks like I’m going to have to knit another one, so I can write up a pattern for all my fellow Point 5 lovers. No complaints here my biggest problem is which color. I may be ready for a little Fire in my life….
The newest yarn to hit the floors of Flying Fingers is a brand new company called Aslan Trends. I know I say this all the time, but these yarns are absolutely gorgeous!
The look is fantastic, the hand is marvelous and the colors are sublime! We have an alpaca/merino blend (I’m already working on hand warmers!). We also have an amazingly soft wool boucle I already have it on needles for a baby jacket) and an angora/merino blend that just bursts into a fabulous bloom when knit. Tina, one of our favorite teachers, knit this shawl found in their very first book.
These yarns are not on our web site yet, But Amy and I are working as hard and as fast as we can. Until then…you are welcome to call me!
